]]>By Steve Martin
Directed by Barry Edelstein
CRITIC'S CHOICE
"Artful comedy—a crisp and satisfying revival! Steve Martin tosses in goofy anachronisms and wordplay and convention-flouting twists with the distractible glee of a kid discovering new toys." —The San Diego Union-Tribune
Steve Martin continues his creative relationship with The Old Globe, returning for the third time with this clever and crowd-pleasing comedy hit. Paris, 1904: The Lapin Agile, beloved watering hole to struggling artists and would-be geniuses, welcomes two soon-to-be legends for one extraordinary night. Pablo Picasso and Albert Einstein, whose egos are as big as their intellects, spar with the regulars and each other about art, science, inspiration, love, and the promise of the 20th century. Throw into this mix a mysterious visitor with a penchant for blue suede shoes, and you’re in for a brilliant and witty evening in the theatre.

Get up close with the Spin Doctors in their exclusive Chicago-area concert on February 26th!
Flashback… 1991, when a band with unparalleled talent emerged from New York City and catapulted to the top of the Billboard 100. Best known for their early hits “Two Princes” and “Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong” their popularity was based on “universal rock & roll virtues,” according to Rolling Stone magazine. The Spin Doctors released their debut studio album “Pocket Full Of Kryptonite” setting off relentless touring and a wave of positive press and die-hard fans. The album was certified Gold and received an additional boost from the band’s October appearance on Saturday Night Live. The “Kryptonite” album reached triple platinum status by 1993 with a number one hit and was sitting pretty at No. 3 on the Billboard albums chart, ultimately selling over five million copies in the US and another five million overseas.
With a 30-plus year career, the Spin Doctors are still going strong, still making music like their lives depend on it, and still shaking the room. Don’t miss the chance to catch their tour right here, right now, and see them live at Gorton!

]]>Experience a Timeless Moment
Tradition is important, and whether you are starting a new one or carrying it on year after year, there is something about the perfect day shared with family and friends.
The cool breeze tickles your skin from Lake Michigan, blankets unroll, chairs unfold, and people relax, laughing and playing in the summer sun. Picnic baskets and grills abound with food creating an overflow of juicy fruit, thick potato salad, and sizzling entrees.
Drinks are ice cold poured from coolers. Beer flows from kegs in the beer garden. You can feel the sunlight dancing on your skin. Laughter and shouts of play echo through the park. Today, everything is as it should be. Then, suddenly…
Bam!
The night sky explodes in vibrant colors of blues, whites, and reds, showcasing a fantastic display of sparks, and you can hear and smell the explosions booming in the distance.
You stare in wonder as rockets whizz, crackle, and spiral, placing a brilliant picture of light in the dark sky. Life is beautiful as hundreds of people stop what they are doing to look skyward.
This sets the stage for one of our most celebrated American holidays and events –
Fourth of July Fireworks!
Here at Kelmscott Park Apartments we have put together a list of the best fireworks displays near Lake Forest, Illinois, to ensure you have a wonderful time this Fourth of July.
Links to our favorite local shows are listed below, so break out that lawn chair and sit back to enjoy the best fireworks displays our area has to offer:
Spend your Independence Day right here in our local community! Our 14th Annual Lake Forest Festival and Fireworks is blasting off on Sunday, July 4th at Deerpath Community Park. Gates open at 5pm and the fireworks will begin at approximately 9:40pm. Buy tickets at the link above!
If you want to be right on Lake Michigan for the fireworks show, head north to Waukegan Harbor and Marina. Fireworks are launched by the commercial dock, and the event is open to the public. Get there early to find a spot, as the event starts promptly at 9pm.
If it’s a river setting you desire, head inland for the Lincolnshire Festival held on the Des Plaines River and Spring Lake Park (49 Oxford Dr, Lincolnshire). The 39th annual 5k Race benefiting the Rotary Club of Lincolnshire starts at 8am, with the parade to follow at 11am. From 4:30pm to 8:30pm, there will be live music, a car show, bingo, as well as other games, food, and beverages. The main event will be held at 9:30pm when the fireworks ignite.
